Through the recently launched youth programme, G-BAM Hi5ive, Globacom Nigeria has joined large companies like MTN, Shell, Total and other company-funded financial aid providers to announce scholarship offer for Nigerian students starting from 2012. The Globacom youth programme, G-BAM Hi5ive offers a variety of products which the company claims is the lowest call tariff ever in the Nigerian market. This initiative from Globacom comes with several packages, but the major product of interest here is the G-BAM Scholar. The Scholarship Programme- G-BAM Scholar A major aspect of the youth programme is the G-BAM Scholar which empowers the Nigerian student community by offering a scholarship of $5 million for 1,000 students. Mohammed Jameel, Globacom's Group Chief Operating Officer, explained that 250 students would be selected every quarter of the year for $ 5,000 worth of scholarship starting from 2012. In his words, "This will help aspiring students to fulfill their academic ambitions, pursue their dreams and passion, and also take care of meritorious students and young people".
