Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research, Karachi, Pakistan — and TWAS offer fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in chemical and biological sciences. Korea University Masters Scholarship for Developing Countries Students 2012/2013 Posted: 18 Oct 2011 10:13 AM PDT 2012 Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Korea University offer Master's Degree Scholarship Program in International Development for Developing Countries Students With a mission to nurture talented students from developing countries, KOICA invites high-caliber students from developing countries and helps them gain professional and systematic knowledge that will play a key role in their home country's development. KOICA and Korea University Graduate School of International Studies together provide full tuition coverage for 20 international development program participants. KOICA provides financial support to meet costs of extramural training and to cover allowances and other related expenses. In particular, this program has significantly strengthened the relationships between Korea and the students' home countries. Students, who have been given an opportunity to see Korea's experience in poverty reduction and socio-economic development, will gain a deeper understanding of Korea and contribute to the future social, political and economic ties between the two nations. From 1997 to 2009, the program has assisted a total of 771 students through 42 courses. In addition, as of 2010, 220 awardees are currently participating in the program at 10 different universities. KOICA Scholarship Program is fully committed to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and is determined to expand its efforts to nurture future talents from developing countries to promote their countries' sustainable economic growth and social development. Duration: February 16, 2012 ~ February 28, 2013 (13 months) Eligibility Eligible Applicants are Government officials or researchers working in his/her home country with a Bachelor's Degree or higher, and should: - Be under the age of 40 - Be nominated by her Government - Have sufficient command of spoken and written English; - Be in good health, both physically and mentally, to undergo the course; - Not have had experience in any of KOICA's training courses within the past three years in the same field. The scholarship is allocated for a maximum of two academic years and covers the tuition fee, living and studying expenses. University of Oslo - Norwegian Quota Scholarship Scheme for Developing Countries 2012 Posted: 18 Oct 2011 04:35 AM PDT Norwegian Quota Scheme for Developing Countries to study at University of Oslo Norway 2012 The Norwegian Quota Scheme is a funding scheme offered by the Norwegian Government to students from developing countries, Central and Eastern Europe, and Central Asia for studies at institutions of higher education in Norway. Applicants from institutions with which the University of Oslo has a formal cooperation agreement are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Eligibility
Quota applicants may apply for selected Master's degree programmes and PhD programmes. Applicants studying Scandinavian studies in their home countries may also apply for a one-year advanced Norwegian language programme. Scholarship Worth Quota funding covers student housing and basic living expenses for one person during the study period. The funding is given as part loan/part grant by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. After completing the programme and returning to the student's home country, the loan part is converted to a scholarship. If residence is taken in Norway within ten years after termination of studies, the scholarship is converted back to a loan and must be repaid. Admission requirements Formal admission requirements for Master's degree programmes at University of Oslo As admission is extremely competitive, applicants should have excellent academic records (minimum B+/Upper second/GPA 3.3/4) Linkage to an institution with a formal cooperation agreement with the University of Oslo. For instance, University of Oslo has cooperation agreements with the University of Jos, Nigeria.
