The conscripts are 18-year-old youths that are selectively drafted. Posted: 16 Nov 2011 07:57 AM PST Tomorrow is the day for all students who sat for The Primary School Assessment Test (Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah, or UPSR). From 10 am onwards, you can obtain the UPSR examination result from your respective school. So what next after UPSR ? Definitely the next step is to enter the secondary school. What is secondary school ? Secondary education in Malaysia is conducted in secondary schools (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan, SMK). Public secondary schools are regarded as extensions of the national schools. They study in five forms. Each form will take a year. At the end of Form 3, the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR, formerly known as Sijil Pelajaran Rendah (SRP) or Lower Certificate of Education (LCE)) or Lower Secondary Evaluation is taken by students. Based on choice, they will be streamed into either the Science stream or Arts stream. The Science stream is generally more desirable. Students are allowed to shift to the Arts stream from the Science stream, but rarely vice-versa. So what kind of options you have after this ? The options is very much depend on your UPSR result. The cream of the crop will have a better options to pursue their secondary school in highly demanded boarding school such as SBP and MRSM. Whatever choice it will be, just remembered the next target is your PMR examination. Choose best school that can assist you to achieve your goal. Top school always provide best teacher and facilities but it doesn’t guarantee 100% success. Looking at top students in SPM, many of them are actually from normal school and not from MRSM/SBP. Anyway, we share some options that you can choose after UPSR :

Posted: 16 Nov 2011 06:48 AM PST During 2012 Budget, our Prime Minister has tabled few goodies for Malaysian in respect of education. Amongst other, RM100 will be given for every school students. The distribution of RM100 has commenced today and expected to complete by end of the month. The RM100 payable to each school student as mentioned earlier will further ease the burden of the parents who have to pay for school bus fare, uniforms, shoes, schools bags and stationery when the new school term starts in January. Who will get ? This RM100 is paid to every student from Standard One to Form Five irrespective of the household income, meaning a family with six school going children will receive a total of RM600. To cater for this, the government has to fork out RM530 million. Co-curriculum fees and insurance premiums Effective next year, schools will stop collecting co-curriculum fees and insurance premiums. As a replacement the government has allocated RM150 million. For Form Six/ Matriculation and undergraduates You will get book vouchers worth RM200 are available to all. The respective students can collect their vouchers through their schools , universities or colleges. This incentive will help alleviate the financial burden of the needy students who need to purchase books for their revision and lectures. For this alone, the government will spend a total of RM260.
