KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 (Bernama) — A new evaluation system for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), which will replace the existing examination system, will start with Lower Six students this year. Malaysian Examinations Council chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Noh Dalimin said it would entail two methods of evaluation assessment — school-based assessment with a weightage from 20 to 40 per cent and final examination with a weightage from 60 to 80 per cent. He said the move was in line with the Education Ministry’s strive to make the assessment and evaluation system to be more holistic by emphasising on outcome-based education, which would focus on students and not too examination-oriented. “The school-based assessment will be used on almost all Form Six subjects. This will go down in the MEC history in conducting public examinations for the past 30 years,” he said when announcing the 2011 STPM results here, Wednesday. – BERNAMA | ||||||||||||
