Over 191 Commonwealth Shared Scholarships will be awarded for 2012/2013 academic year at 61 UK Universities. Overall deadline is 31 May 2012 (but each university has its individual deadline, some of which has been closed for 2012/2013 application). The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme is the most prestigious scholarship program for Students from Nigeria, Africa and other commonwealth nations. Established since 1986 and setup by the Department for International Development (DFID), the commonwealth shared scholarship represents a unique partnership between governments and over 60 UK Universities. For 2012 Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme CSSS 60 UK universities offered to support the scholarships by contributing the stipend for the students. In 2011 50 UK Universities supported the scholarship scheme. It is the mark of UK universities' commitment that the scheme each year receives bids for many more awards than it has the resources to fulfill. This scholarship opportunity will provide recipients of the Shared Scholarships with the skills and knowledge to assist in the development of their home countries.
