The 2012/ 2013 Gates Cambridge Scholarship is a Full cost scholarship for postgraduate study and research in any subject at the university of Cambridge England for International students The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is open for Citizens of all countries other than the USA (except the United Kingdom) and US citizens normally resident outside the USA. Gates Cambridge Scholarship are only available for full-time postgraduate degrees offered at the University of Cambridge, UK. Application materials for the 2012-2013 academic year are now available from the University’s Graduate Studies Prospectus from 1 September 2011. Applicants may apply to pursue one of the following full-time residential courses of study: - One year postgraduate course (e.g. MPhil, LLM, MASt, Diploma, MBA etc.)
- MSc or MLitt (two year research-only degree)
- PhD (three year research-only degree)
Eligibility To be eligible to apply for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, applicant: - may be citizens of any country outside the United Kingdom
- may apply to study any subject available at the University of Cambridge
- must be admitted to one of the degrees above at Cambridge through the University's normal admission procedures – the Trust does not admit students
- must be applying for a new course of study or research if they are already a student at Cambridge – e.g. those who have already started their PhD are not eligible to be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship
- who are – or have been – in receipt of a Gates Cambridge Scholarship may apply for a second scholarship; such candidates must apply by the second, international deadline and go through the same process of departmental ranking, shortlisting and interviewing as all other candidates.

The Abertay University UK is offering Overseas Students Scholarship Scheme for 2012-2013 academic year with the value of each scholarship directly related to the quality of the individual applicant's academic merit and/or personal achievements in sport or music. The Overseas Student Scholarship Fund at the Abertay University is open to international students living outside the European Union and the European Free Trade Area, who are liable to pay overseas tuition fees and whom the University believes would bring additional personal and academic qualities to the institution. The fund will support individual scholarships based on academic merit, and/or personal achievement in either sports or music. The Overseas Student scholarships will be available for students enrolling for study at Abertay in September 2012. Types of Scholarships The Academic Merit Scholarships will be available to those with outstanding academic merit, based on their proven academic record at school and/or college and/or university at the point of application. The Personal Achievement Scholarships will be available to those applicants whose personal achievements in sport or music demonstrate a commitment and determination to excel in other aspects of life. Eligibility You can only apply for a scholarship if you have submitted an application for a place on a degree or postgraduate programme at Abertay. Students applying for one or more full years of study at the University of Abertay Dundee, at either undergraduate or postgraduate level, will be eligible to apply for a scholarship. Undergraduate students who are granted a place on a University of Abertay Dundee full-time degree course and are awarded a scholarship will benefit from the scholarship funding each year, for up to four years depending on the length of their course. For taught postgraduate degrees, successful applicants will enjoy scholarship funding for the duration of their course (normally between 12 and 18 months). Scholarship Worth The value of the award to individuals may vary, but would not exceed the value of the tuition fee, and be subject to the amount of the total Scholarship Fund remaining when the application is considered. Scholarships will only be paid if you successfully meet any conditions of the offer made and will be deducted from the overall fee payable. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover remaining costs. The University of Western Australia invites applications for Australian University International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) and for Masters and PhD students 2012 Suitably qualified international students are invited to submit applications for scholarships to undertake the degree of Master by Research or Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Western Australia. Application for a scholarship is also an application for admission to the University. The scholarship is open for all area of study offered at the university. The purpose of the IPRS and the UWA SIRF scheme is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas in which the University has specialized research strengths and to support Australia's research effort. Successful applicants can expect to become members of a research team working under the direction of senior researchers and in an area which has attracted external resources. Eligibility To be eligible to apply for an IPRS Scholarship for 2012 an applicant— - must be eligible to enrol or be enrolled as a full-time student in a higher degree by research at the University upon commencement of their scholarship;

- must not be an overseas student who is currently on an Australian Government sponsored scholarship such as AusAID seeking to apply for an IPRS immediately following the AusAID-funded study. Such candidates must meet the terms and conditions of these awards prior to applying for future funding. This applies to students under the Australian Sponsored Training Scholarships (ASTAS), the Equity and Merit Scholarship Scheme (EMSS) and the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS).
Selection Criteria Applications for international postgraduate research scholarships at UWA are rated according to the following criteria: Academic achievement English language achievement Research training achievement Proposed research environment. The Center fosters empirical research and theoretical analysis concerning legal institutions, legal processes, legal change, and the social consequences of law. Closely linked to the School of Law, CSLS creates a multidisciplinary milieu with a faculty of distinguished socio-legal scholars in sociology of law, political science, criminal justice studies, law and economics, legal history, law and psychology, and legal and social philosophy, along with visiting socio-legal scholars from the United States and around the world.
Eligibility 1. Applicants normally must possess a Ph.D. or J.D. (or foreign equivalent). 2. Applicants must submit a full curriculum vitae. 3. The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) and The Hope Network invites female students entering their Honours level/ 4th year of study to apply for the SAWISE Hope scholarship. The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA WISE) is a dynamic association for all those who support the idea of strengthening the role of women in science and engineering in South Africa. Up to 15 Trudeau Scholarships are awarded each year to support doctoral candidates pursuing research of compelling present-day concern, touching upon one or more of the four themes of the Foundation. Trudeau Scholars are highly gifted individuals who are actively engaged in their fields and expected to become leading national and international figures. Since the beginning of the program in 2003, the Foundation has awarded 129 Trudeau Doctoral Scholarships.
Eligibility Criteria - Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university
OR - Be a Canadian citizen applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a foreign university
OR - Be a foreign national [with a preference for candidates from the developing world] applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university
- Present a research project linked to one of the four themes of the Foundation
- Be nominated by a university
Selection Criteria Have a track record of academic achievements at the level of the highest standards of the world’s most prestigious doctoral scholarship programs Possess exceptional skills that will enable the Scholar to engage in lively exchange with other researchers Intend to work in an area related to one or more of the Foundation’s four themes and have an expressed desire to contribute to public dialogue Scholarship Worth The Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship is tenable for three years. During their third year, Trudeau Scholars may apply for a thesis writing scholarship or a postdoctoral scholarship, for a fourth year of financing. The Scholarship of up to $180,000 consists of two distinct financial categories: (1) an annual stipend of $40,000, which is intended to cover the cost of tuition and reasonable living expenses. (2) an annual travel allowance of $20,000, which is available to support research-related travel and to cover networking expenses associated with the Foundation’s Public Interaction program Far beyond a financial assistance, the Trudeau Scholarship offers award winners the opportunity to interact with an exciting community of leaders and committed individuals in every field of the social sciences and humanities. Selection Criteria The assessment of nominees for Trudeau Scholarships focuses on the following criteria: - academic achievement at the level of the most competitive scholarship programs worldwide;
- an outstanding ability to engage in lively exchange with other researchers and scholars; and
- the intention to work in an area related to one or more of the four themes of the Foundation, and a desire to contribute to public dialogue around those themes.
Selection Process Trudeau Scholars are selected through a process that involves nomination by a university, internal and external review and selection panels, an interview, and the formal approval of the Board of Directors. The Scholars are announced each year during the month of May. Application Requirements Completed and printed application form (filled out by using Adobe Acrobat) Letter of nomination signed by a high-ranking official of the institution Three letters of reference: two (2) from academic referees, principally concerning academic achievements, AND one (1) from a non-academic referee, concerning the non-academic aspects of the application. The letters of reference must be signed and clearly indicate the name and contact information of the referee Transcripts of all post-secondary studies, including CEGEP transcript for candidates who attended CEGEP in Quebec Application Period/Deadline Application forms are available online in late August, while competition opens in October each year. The Deadline for receiving applications at the Foundation is December 16, 2011 – 5 p.m Application Submission Candidates should address their institutions for information about internal application procedures and deadlines. Please note that universities can nominate a candidate from their institution who is pursuing doctoral studies at another university. There are two ways to submit an application: THROUGH A CANADIAN UNIVERSITY Universities in Canada hold annual internal competitions in which six to eight candidates per institution, including affiliated schools, are selected as nominees. The top SSHRC-funded universities are allowed to propose up to eight candidates per institution, including affiliated schools. For the 2012 competition, these universities are: University of Toronto, Université de Montréal, University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, McGill University, University of Ottawa, York University, University of Western Ontario, University of Victoria and Concordia University. Letters of nomination must be signed by the President, Principal or Rector of the institution. Applications must be submitted to the Foundation directly by the nominating university. A complete application file must be submitted for each student. THROUGH A FOREIGN UNIVERSITY Foreign universities can propose up to eight candidates per institution, including affiliated schools and colleges. Letters of nomination must be signed by a high-ranking official of the institution. In requesting a nomination from a foreign university, candidates should provide the nominating authority with their completed application form and all supporting documents. These must be submitted to the Foundation by the nominating authority of the foreign university.
