With expertise in medicine and health, Cuba is now offering medical courses for Malaysian students this year. Nestor Torres, second secretary at the Cuban embassy here, said the Latin American School of Medicine, touted as the largest medical school in the world, would offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. “Cuba first offered medical studies to Malaysian students in 2003, but it was only in 2007 that the first intake took place as not many Malaysians were aware of the offer until now,” he told Bernama. He said Malaysians who wished to study at the institution should be proficient in Spanish as all the courses there were conducted in Spanish. “Successful candidates will start their studies in September,” he said. Established in 1999, the Cuban government-run Latin American School enrolled more than 10,000 students from 29 countries last year. Further information can be obtained at the Cuban mission here located at No. 18, Jalan Kent 2, Off Jalan Maktab. It can be reached at 03-26911066. |
